Foreword

This collection of contemporary bagpipe music represents the first book of piping music to be published in Nova Scotia. It's high quality is a reflection of the state of the piping art in Nova Scotia and the rest of Maritime Canada. It is both an honour and a pleasure to provide a few comments for it's foreword.

First of all, I am sure you will agree with me that this volume contains a cross-section of our music that is suited to all levels of piping expertise. From the more intense and sophisticated "Alexander Ross Boyd" to "Ray MacDonalds Reel", Scott Williams has presented us with compositions possessing extremely refined musical quality. Beginners through to advanced pipers have been provided with a wealth of strong tunes for their repertoire.

While I look forward to including many of the tunes from this book in my own repertoire, I also look forward to hearing Scott's music at Highland Games from Antigonish to Maxville and Ballahouston Park.
